Some people spend a lifetime looking for true love; Lucia has only 258 days….


It all starts when Lucia overhears a heartwrenching conversation between her mother Marta and her soon-to-be-married sister Irina. Irina has just announced her engagement at a family dinner and the festive occasion soon becomes a bitter disillusion for Lucia, Irina's older, single and somewhat unattractive sister. Lucia always knew she was Marta's less favorite daughter, but nothing prepared her for what she was about to hear: her own mother vowing to pay for Irina's entire wedding if Lucia arrives at the event with a real boyfriend, an eventuality Marta believed would never happen.

Hurt and angered, Lucia decides to prove her mother wrong and as a bonus – make her lose the bet and pay for Irina's wedding. She sets out to find a genuine, loving boyfriend, knowing all too well she has only 258 days until her sister's wedding day.

Lucia starts a relentless and unyielding quest to find a man. She goes on numerous blind dates and a hilarious parade of men follows: the boring guy from work, the crazy guy she meets through an internet dating service, the set-in-his-ways single man, the one who looks perfect but actually isn't, etc., etc., etc…

Driven to make her mother eat her words, Lucia slowly learns that the search for love has actually changed her: she no longer cares what others, especially her mother, think of her, and realizes she should always listen to her inner voice.

Still, Lucia will truly triumph when she'll realize that all the blind dates have blinded her from seeing that true love was close by all along.

"Ciega a Citas" is based on a true and successful blognovela written by Carolina Aguirre. It is the first blog in Spanish and one of the first in the world to be adapted for television. It became a huge success on the web achieving two and a half million views and eighty thousand comments in only 9 months (November 2007 to June 2008).
